Four Ingredient Pasta
Making pasta from scratch may sound intimidating, but it's surprisingly simple—and the benefits are worth it. By using just four ingredients—flour, water, olive oil, and salt—you have complete control over what goes into your pasta, avoiding preservatives and additives often found in store-bought varieties. You can even customize the dough with herbs or other flavors for a unique twist.
Fresh pasta also has a superior taste and texture compared to dried, store-bought options. It absorbs sauces better, making each bite richer and more flavorful. Plus, the process is easier than you think. With just 30 minutes of prep time, you can have homemade pasta ready to cook, and the hands-on experience is both satisfying and fun.
Lastly, making your own pasta gives you the opportunity to create a healthier version by choosing your preferred ingredients, whether that’s whole-wheat flour or gluten-free alternatives. So next time you’re reaching for a box of dried pasta, consider trying homemade—you'll be amazed at how simple and delicious it is!

Ingredients
-
3 cups All Purpose Flour
-
¾ cup water
-
2 tbsp Olive Oil
-
Pinch of Salt
-
Optional: Herbs of Choice (e.g., dried oregano, basil)
Directions
1. Mix Wet Ingredients
In a small bowl, whisk together the water and olive oil, then set aside.
2. Prepare the Flour
In a large bowl, place the flour and create a well in the center.
3. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually pour the water and oil mixture into the well of the flour.
If using a stand mixer: Use the dough hook attachment on low speed for about 2-3 minutes, or until the dough forms a ball
If mixing by hand: Gently fold the flour into the wet ingredients until the dough can easily form a ball.
4. Knead the Dough
Once a ball is formed, knead the dough by hand for about 5 minutes until it becomes smooth. Cover the dough with Bee’s Wrap (or plastic wrap), and refrigerate for 30 minutes to let it rest.
5. Roll the Dough
After the dough has set in the refrigerator:
If using a stand mixer: Attach the pasta roller, and set your preferred thickness.
If rolling by hand: Lightly flour a sturdy surface and a rolling pin.
6. Shape the Pasta
Remove the dough from the refrigerator, divide it into 4-5 equal portions, and roll each portion out using the mixer attachment or rolling pin to your desired thickness.
7. Cut the Noodles
Shape the rolled-out dough into the type of noodles you prefer (e.g., fettuccine, spaghetti, ravioli).
8. Cook the Pasta
Boil the noodles in salted water for about 2-4 minutes or until they float to the surface. Drain and enjoy with your favorite sauce!
Recipe Note
Knead Thoroughly:
Knead the dough for at least 5 minutes until smooth and elastic for the best texture.
Rest the Dough:
Let the dough rest in the fridge for 30 minutes to make it easier to roll and shape.
Roll Thinly:
Roll the dough as thin as possible for quick, even cooking and a tender bite.
Cook Quickly:
Fresh pasta only needs 2-4 minutes in boiling water, so watch closely to avoid overcooking.
